Governor Roy Cooper discusses Election Day
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — We spoke with North Carolina governor Roy Cooper today about the importance of voting on Election Day.
North Carolina has been carried by democrats only two times in presidential elections since 1968, but the state has stayed competitive for both major parties.
Donald Trump’s 2020 victory in North Carolina which was by about one percentage point was his smallest winning margin in any state.
Which is why in North Carolina every vote counts.
“We are so fortunate to live in a country where you can cast a meaningful ballot where you can actually choose your leaders. There’s never been a more stark contrast between the candidates that we have today from the presidential level, the governor level, all the way down to the council of state. I want a president who wakes up every morning thinking about the American people,” Cooper said.
Governor Cooper’s seat is open since he is term limited.
Today’s gubernatorial race is between democrat Josh Stein and republican Mark Robinson.
