Gusty conditions damage Oak Island water safety stations

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Important safety stations were damaged overnight due to gusty conditions in Oak Island.
Gusts of up to 47 miles per hour knocked down multiple stations along the sand.
Crews with the ocean rescue say the yellow rescue tubes may be missing off of other stations as well.
If you see a rescue tube or water safety station signage that has been damaged or dislocated, you are asked to not try to repair the station yourself.
You can contact the department through the contact form HERE.
