Handful of local schools run into weather issues on first day of football practice
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Monday marked the first official day for high school football practice all around the state.
A handful of local squads hit the field early in the morning. Those teams did not have weather issues other than it being hot.
A handful of teams practiced in the evening, but most of those ended up having to go inside due to weather and lightning issues. North Brunswick is included in this group.
North Brunswick head coach Larry Brock talked about during his interview with WWAY.
“We better make sure we’re living right,” Brock said as lightning flashed. “You can see we’re not going to take a chance with kids getting hurt. It ain’t worth it. It ain’t worth someone getting killed. It ain’t worth it, and we made the decision to go inside to practice.”
