High school holds socially distanced prom(s)
BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY) — One high school is making it its mission to put on a safe prom. Or technically, three proms.
West Brunswick High School is throwing its prom April 17. Instead of having one large gathering indoors, Principal Jonathan Paschal said they’re having students sign up for one of three one-hour time slots.
During each slot, students can enjoy music, take photos, and dance with the group or date they carpooled with.
There will be socially distanced games like cornhole, bocce ball, and yard tic tac toe in the courtyard.
“It is obviously in this pandemic, our juniors and seniors both, our hearts go out to them. We wanted just as much as they did, and I’m sure their parents as well, wanted to have a traditional year. So to have any since of normalcy is important,” said Paschel.
Between each time slot, staff have built in 10 minutes to transition kids out, fog all high touch areas, and then to transition the next group in.
