Western Carolina University is going the whole nine yards to better protect athletes in contact sports. Research is underway that could have far-reaching implications.

Call it teamwork between the Western Carolina University Engineering Technology program, its football team and Penn State.

Football and engineering take center stage for WCU tight end Clayton Bardall, who is no stranger to head impacts on the gridiron.
