Humpday Health: Hot yoga for your body and mind


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At Be Unlimited Yoga it’s all about health for your body and your mind.

“Our goal, our mission, is to spread mindfulness and awareness by offering an environment that supports and promotes personal growth,” said Christina Joy the studio director. “The physical should never be denied because they are important, but it’s more of a mindful practice. For me personally, from my experience, the spiritual, mental, and emotional benefits far outweigh and are the most beautiful gifts of the practice.”

But don’t think you won’t get a good workout. Be U specializes in hot yoga.

“This is a 75 minute class. The temperature goes to 105 with 50 percent humidity and there’s 80 to 90 poses in this sequence,” said Joy.

Instructors said hot yoga is a fun, uplifting and invigorating practice with modifications for any level. Any form of yoga hot or not is an excellent supplement to any other workouts you might do.

“We have a lot of tri-athletes that come to do yoga because it’s the perfect cross-train. It helps prevent injury because you’re actually loosening up your joints and you have better flexibility so you have better protection when you are running a marathon or doing a triathlon or cycling,” said Battle Witherington the co-director.

The folks at Be Unlimited said there are yoga techniques for all ages and activity levels. They said it’s a perfect way to unwind after a stressful day and reconnect with your body, plus your first class at Be Unlimited is FREE!
