Humpday Health: Sweat to save sea turtles

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For four years now the Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project and the Gold’s Gym on Racine Drive have been partnering to raise money to support turtles.

“On Saturday they’re going to have multiple classes throughout the day that will benefit Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project,” said volunteer coordinator Nancy Fahey.

You don’t need to be a member of Gold’s Gym to come out and work out.

“You’re just going sign our liability waiver and you’re good to go!” said group activities coordinator Dreama Tapia.

Starting with a bootcamp at 6:45 Saturday morning, you can come out to take part in a number of group exercise classes.

“So basically we’re just going to have a super Saturday. A full day of fitness. You just come here, take as many classes as you want,” Tapia said.

Organizers said last year hundreds came through during the say to sweat for the sea turtles.

“Last summer it was our biggest fundraiser of the whole year and in the history of our organization, so it was really exciting. And we hope it’s even bigger this year,” said Fahey.

Organizers said all ability levels and ages are welcome. So do some good with your workout this weekend and sweat for the turtles.
