ICE protest took place just outside Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center
Wilmington, NC (WWAY)– A protest is took place outside of Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Organizers say the “ICE OUT” protest was done in both honor and solidarity with the national nurses union’s week of action for Alex Pretti, a nurse who was killed by border patrol agents last weekend in Minnesota.
Protesters carried signs and chanted outside along 17th street outside the hospital. Among the protestors was Nadine Antonelli — a healthcare professional at Sea Shore Women’s Health and Cindi Moore — an independent journalist.
Antonelli feels the trump administration is fueling hate between political parties, while Moore doesn’t support the killings, but does support tighter borders.
“We have an administration that is sowing seeds of hate and division, and I took an oath when I graduated from medical school to take care of all people regardless of their political beliefs,” said Antonelli.
“I support ICE. I do know that things in Minneapolis have gone really bad and that there was a tragic loss of life, but I do feel like in order to be a sovereign nation, we have to have borders and we have to protect out borders,” said Moore.
The group marched to The Local Customers Border and Protection Office at 721 Medical Center Drive.
