UNCW blows past Charleston 86-66 with five Seahawks reaching double figures in scoring
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – UNCW has secured their 9th win in a row after beating their rival College of Charleston by 20. In doing so, Head Coach Takayo Siddle also earned his 100th career win as the skipper of the Seahawks.
With five Seahawks reaching double figures, UNCW wins 86 to 66 with a 33-19 advantage in bench points and a 46-32 lead in paint points. the 21-win Seahawks led for 38 minutes of the game after a back-and-forth first few minutes.
Up next for UNCW is Elon on Saturday when the streaking Seahawks look for win #10 in a row.

UNCW’s Khamari McGriff, Bo Montgomery and Harlan Obioha combined for 48 points to pace five Seahawks in double figures as the UNCW men’s basketball team completed a regular season sweep of Charleston with an 86-66 win at a sold-out Trask Coliseum on Thursday night.
The Seahawks ran their winning streak to a season-high nine games to stand 21-5 and 11-2 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Cougars dipped to 19-7 and 9-4 in the CAA.
UNCW shot 51.5 percent in the game and built a double-digit lead 10 minutes into the first half, 25-15, with a game-high 10-0 run.
The aforementioned trio each scored 16 points with Obioha recording his fourth double-double with 12 rebounds. UNCW’s Nolan Hodge and Sean Moore each scored 11.
Four Cougars reached double-digits: AJ Smith (14), Ante Brzovic (13), Deywilk Tavarez (12) and Derrin Boyd (10).
The Seahawks, who carried a 46-35 lead into halftime, did not allow Charleston to pull within single digits the entirety of the second half and capped the 20-point win with a Montgomery exclamation dunk with 25 seconds remaining to make UNCW fifth-year Head Coach Takayo Siddle the fast UNCW bench boss to 100 career wins, which the program achieved in 144 games.
UNCW looks for its third 10-game win streak in the last four years at the annual Homecoming Game vs. Elon on Saturday at 7 p.m.
