Investigation leads to large drug bust in Columbus County
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — In January, Homeland Security Investigations contacted the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division Vice-Narcotics Unit regarding the interception of drugs.
Parcels containing illegal controlled substances were addressed to locations in Riegelwood.
An investigation was conducted which resulted in the arrest of one person and the seizure of about 62 pounds of marijuana, 2 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, 10 ounces of marijuana resin wax, and 7 ounces of marijuana live resin vape pens.
The defendant was arrested and transported to the Columbus County Detention Center and charged with 6 counts felony trafficking in marijuana, 2 counts felony maintain place for controlled substances, felony littering hazardous waste, 2 counts felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, 2 counts felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, 2 counts misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
