LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A couple from Leland will soon embark on the adventure of a lifetime as they compete in the upcoming 37th season of “The Amazing Race.”

Courtney Ramsey, 33, a registered nurse, and Jasmin Carey, 34, a nurse practitioner, will be among 14 teams competing in what CBS is calling the “Season of Surprises.”

According to a news release, this season will feature the largest cast in the show’s history and introduce game-changing twists in every episode, including returning challenges such as the Fast Forward and U-Turn, as well as new elements like the Fork in the Road. The Fork in the Road, debuting in the first leg in Hong Kong, will force teams to choose between two different routes to the Pit Stop, with two teams facing elimination.

“This season 14 teams will embark on an unforgettable adventure,” said Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, co-creators and executive producers, in a statement. “Traveling around the globe for a stop in Osaka, Japan where they will experience a modern-day bullet train in a thriving city and then immerse themselves in a 12,000-year-old tradition, performing with a Taiko Drum group. They will feel the adrenaline rush of skydiving over Dubai’s breathtaking cityscape contrasted with another stop, for the first time on The Amazing Race, in the countryside of Bulgaria, where they will participate in a traditional folk dance.

Teams will also head to Strasbourg, France, where competitors will visit a medieval village that looks like it came straight out of a fairytale.

The Amazing Race is hosted by Phil Keoghan. At every destination, each team must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, and only when the tasks are completed will they learn of their next location. Teams that are the farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning “The Amazing Race” and the $1 million prize.

Fans of the show can follow Ramsey and Carey’s journey as they take on the challenges.

It premieres March 5 at 9:30 pm on WWAY CBS.
