LGC approves Wilmington Housing Authority’s bonds for Starway Village

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A proposed affordable housing development set to be built at the site of the former Starway Flea Market getting a green light Tuesday.

The Local Government Commission (LGC)  approved the Wilmington Housing Authorities bonds’ worth $23.5 million for Starway Village I and $13.6 million for Starway Village II.

These bonds will be used to acquire and build low-income, multi-family rental facilities on Carolina Beach Road. Village I will have 176 units and Village II will have 102 units. Both of these developments will include units for disabled, homeless or mobility impaired residents.
