Lincoln Elementary School installs Buddy Bench to help combat loneliness and bullying in school
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — One Brunswick County elementary school is trying out a new way to address bullying.
Lowe’s Home Improvement in Leland and the North Brunswick Kiwanis Club helped install a Buddy Bench at Lincoln Elementary School. The bench is designed to help with loneliness and bullying in schools. The idea is children can sit on the bench when they feel lonely or need someone to reach out or comfort them. 3rd grader Caroline Roush said she thinks the bench is a nice addition to the playground.
“Yes, it’s a very good addition and you will be able to make new friends,” Roush said.
According to the North Brunswick Kiwanis Club, benches have been installed in other communities and claim to be effective in helping children.
