Local business looks to reduce waste and refill items you use regularly

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A business in Wilmington looking to help residents save money and stay clean in the process.
When many of us run out of items like shampoo, all purpose cleaners or lotion, we tend to throw those plastic bottles away. The Refillery Co. in Wilmington looks to cut down on waste and offer clean alternatives to refill those bottles with. Owner Jasmyn Blanchard said she got the idea to start the business as her youngest daughter struggled with traditional lotions and creams on her skin. Blanchard said the options she offers can be a healthy alternative as to what you can find a big box stores.
“All of our products are plant based, vegan, cruelty free, almost everything is scented with essential oils, clean fragrances. A lot of products do carry harmful fragrances and that’s something that I think people have issues with. Like, a lot of hormone disrupters and all that,” Blanchard explained.
Blanchard said while she understands refilling come sometimes be expensive, a lot of families are turning to it as a safer alternative and to change to a healthier lifestyle.
