Local flower farm prepares for Valentine’s Day rush
CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — Valentine’s Day is just two days away, which means if you’ve put off getting your sweetie something, you still have time.
Castle Hayne Farms has been busy as Valentine’s Day approaches.
According to owner Mark Hommes, it’s the second busiest time of the year for flower sales, behind Mother’s Day.
Hommes said they expect to sell nearly 2,000 bouquets.
They’ve already shipped another 15,000 bouquets to stores along the East Coast.
He said flowers are a special gift to give and receive.
“Flowers are a nice gift, you know, it means something,” Hommes said. “If you give somebody flowers, they feel appreciated, you know, and it’s about those things in life sometimes.”
According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $27.5 billion on flowers this Valentine’s Day alone.
