Local hospital recognized with multiple awards
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The American Heart Association recognized a local hospital for cardiovascular and stroke care.
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center received multiple awards including one for heart failure and one for stroke. To be recognized they needed to first apply and then be evaluated by the American Heart Association.
Cardiologist John Rommel, who is the director of heart failure, told us what it means to have this recognition again.
“I think it shows you whether it is an acute emergency or a chronic illness we are really here to try to provide top-end, high level care to the patients in this community. And that is our commitment, and it is great to see us continue to build on that,” Rommel said.
Rommel adds he is thrilled the team’s effort is recognized. Each person from the techs to the doctors contributed to earning these awards. Without their unique skill sets this would not be possible.
