Local Wilmington media group uses $1,000 prize for good

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–A Wilmington media group won one thousand dollars in a contest and used it in a unique and impactful way.

Boot Scrap is a digital production company that creates content ASAP or ‘As Sustainable As Possible’.

The group won one thousand dollars from a contest on YouTube with intentions to stretch the money and grow it.

The group collaborated with the Boys and Girls Club, ultimately raising two thousand dollars for the organization.

This money was used for the Boys and Girls Club to have birthday parties and field trips.

On the trips, Boot Scrap was able to provide the kids with a meal with the money as well.

With the money left over, they were able to provide twenty-five bikes for kids at Christmas and also provide litter clean up in Wilmington in which they later diverted and recycled while giving the money away to people.

JT Fritsch Boot Scrap Owner and Creative Director says

“Boot Scrap, we try to make all of our projects have a net positive impact on the planet and its people. We were going to see how far we could stretch it to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

The Boys and Girls Club is still using that money a year later, and Boot Scrap hopes that the money given away will continue to be used in impactful ways.
