Lutheran Church of Reconciliation leads ‘Dignity.Period’ Project to help local women in need
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Lutheran Church of Reconciliation on Market Street in Wilmington has been collecting feminine hygiene donations.
There have been over 800 cosmetic bags, and 15,000 feminine hygiene products donated to the ‘Dignity.Period’ project. They’ve dropped off 100 filled cosmetic bags to four different organizations to be distributed to women in need. President of the congregation AJ Oberempt and Lutheran Church of Reconciliation Pastor Jeffrey Ingold said the donations exceeded their expectations.
“All of the help and all of the people who have donated I can’t thank them enough. Knowing that we are making a difference in local women’s lives…man that’s cool,” Oberempt exclaims.
“Not only is it a place for worship it’s a place for service so we are always looking for opportunities to get out there in the community,” Pastor Ingold adds.
The church is still collecting donations, and they hope to make this an ongoing project. You can drop off supplies to the church, use the PayPal account and send money, or send a check to the church.
Support can also be given through the website.
