MacKenzie Gore ‘most likely’ heading back to DL

FORT WAYNE, IN (WWAY) — It appears MacKenzie Gore is having issues with a blister that has already forced him to miss five weeks of his season for the Fort Wayne Tincaps.

Gore was slated to start in the game Sunday against the South Bend Cubs, but was pulled from the lineup card Saturday night.

Tincaps Manager Anthony Contreras spoke on the injury yesterday, saying the team is using caution with the lefty and not trying to force anything with Gore that could lead to a bigger problem down the road.

“This blister thing is kind of lingering,” Contreras said. “He could’ve started today, but we didn’t want more setbacks with that thing. We’re trying to figure out what exactly keeps causing this blister to keep reoccurring. For right now, I think it’s still early in the season and we’d rather take care of it erring on the side of precaution.”

Contreras says Gore will most likely go back on the disabled list, but it is still unclear at this time.

Gore is 0-1 on the season and has a 10.13 ERA in eight innings pitched for Fort Wayne.
