Man charged in Carolina Beach stabbing appears in court

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — 40-year-old James Arthur Johnson appeared in court for the first time since being charged with second-degree murder.

Johnson appeared via video in New Hanover County Court Friday afternoon. Johnson is accused of stabbing someone to death yesterday morning at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Spencer Farlow Drive. More details about what happened were revealed during today’s appearance, including the fact Johnson allegedly stabbed the victim 15 times in the back. Johnson is being held on $100,000,000 secured bond.

His next court appearance is July 25th.
