Man found shot to death in front yard of North Carolina home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina say a man was shot and killed in the front yard of his home.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a news release that 16-year-old Jarquavise Demonta White stepped outside his home early Saturday. After that, the victim’s family heard gunshots and then found White lying outside in the yard.

White was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died.

The Charlotte Observer reports the death marked the city’s fifth homicide of 2018. There were 87 homicides in Charlotte in 2017, more than any year since 1995.
