Man jailed after deputies find pot in mail
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County man has been jailed after investigators say he received shipments of marijuana in the mail.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office charged Joseph L. Richburg, 33, of Tabor City, with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and a misdemeanor drug violation count.
Detectives say they got a tip from out of state that led them to investigate Richburg. They say that probe led them to believe Richburg was getting shipments of marijuana through by US mail. Wednesday detectives say they got a search warrant for a package Richburg received. They say they found six pound of pot inside.
Deputies booked Richburg under $101,000 secured bond.
The Department of Public Safety website shows Richburg has a criminal history dating back to 2000 with convictions for communicating threats, breaking into cars and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
