McCrory to GA: I had a budget 5 months ago

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — After speaking at the Sheriff’s Association 2015 Annual Training Conference this morning, Gov. Pat McCrory had a simple message to lawmakers in the General Assembly.

McCrory said our state is only one of five in the country that hasn’t finished a budget yet. He added out of those five, North Carolina is the only state with a surplus.

“Encourage your legislators to do their job. Solve problems and do their job,” McCrory said. “As governor, I submitted a budget over five months ago.”

McCrory added he will not accept sales tax distribution and an economic incentive package. Other topics, like teaching assistants and driver’s education are currently in a holding pattern while the budget talks continue.
