Meet Hal, the newest and furriest member of Burgaw Fire Department

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Burgaw Fire Department has adopted its first-ever firehouse dog, a pup named Halligan, or “Hal” for short.

In a social media post, the department said Hal took his first ride on one of its engines and “loved every second of it.” The department also said Hal welcomed his first station visitors as two young girls stopped by to see the fire trucks.

With Hal now officially adopted, the department said it will begin training so he can be available for emergency responses, community events, station tours and other outings to meet members of the community.

The department said it hopes residents are as excited as firefighters are to welcome Hal and that it looks forward to introducing him to the public soon.
