North Carolina man detained in death of South Carolina woman

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – A North Carolina man has been detained in the shooting death of a woman whose body was found in a South Carolina motel earlier this week.

Myrtle Beach Police Lt. Joey Crosby told local media outlets investigators had identified a person of interest and police in North Carolina detained the man. He was taken to the Myrtle Beach jail Wednesday morning. His name and hometown have not been released because investigators are preparing charges.

The body of 20-year-old Colee Muirhead of Myrtle Beach was found around 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Officers have not released a possible motive for her death.
