New Hanover Co. Sheriff’s Office donates never claimed bikes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is getting things rolling for homeless people and children in need, literally!

Deputies are giving away 35 bicycles. They are bikes that were found and never claimed and now they’re going to be used again.

The sheriff’s department is required to keep them for 60 days but after than can do what it wants with them.

This year 12 bikes went the Brigade Boys and Girls Club and 23 went to the group Switchin’ Gears, which restores and gives them back to the community.
