New Hanover County high schools play in first-ever girls flag football games

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – History was made Monday at Laney High School.
All four New Hanover County high schools are fielding flag football teams for the first time. For three Saturdays in April, the four teams will play each other three teams, culminating in the county championship on the 27th.
See the highlights from the first of the three games played Monday below. Currently, Ashley leads the standings after going 3-0. New Hanover trails them with a 2-1 record, only losing to the Screaming Eagles. Laney is 1-2 after dropping the first two games to Ashley and New Hanover but then beat Hoggard, who starts the season 0-3.
