New Hanover County voter registration deadline approaching

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Time is running out for New Hanover County residents wishing to vote in the upcoming 2024 Primary Election.
People must register to vote by Friday. Voters who miss the registration deadline but would still like to register and vote may do so during the Early Voting Period beginning on February 15th.
During the 2024 Primary Election, voters affiliated with any political party may vote the ballot of the candidates for their party only. Some recognized political parties in North Carolina may not have primary ballots. Unaffiliated voters may choose to vote in any one political party’s ballot or a nonpartisan ballot (if available).
All voters will be asked to show photo ID when voting in North Carolina. Along with a driver’s license, there are many other accepted photo IDs.
Anyone in need of an accepted identification card can get a free ID card from the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles or from their county board of elections office.
All voters will be allowed to vote with or without a photo ID. If a voter cannot show photo ID when voting in person, voters can still submit a ballot by filling out an ID Exception Form which will be available at the polling station.
