DA: Trial begins for man accused of kidnapping New Hanover Co. 6-year-old


SAMPSON COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Jury selection is still set for tomorrow in the case of a man accused of kidnapping a girl in New Hanover County last year.

District Attorney Ben David says prospective jurors for the trial of Douglas Edwards are scheduled to arrive at the Sampson County courthouse first thing Monday morning.

Edwards is a registered sex offender. He is accused of grabbing a girl in front of her home as he rode his moped.

She was found safe, but chained to a tree the next morning.
