New Hanover gets even in tennis with a win over Cape Fear Academy

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Academy appeared to be the cream of the crop in Wilmington as far as boys tennis this season. After all, the Hurricanes have a handful of state championships the last few years. Plus, they already have victories this season over Hoggard and New Hanover, but revenge is sweet. Hoggard gets a chance to face Cape Fear on Tuesday. New Hanover had their rematch with Cape Fear Academy on Monday.

Over the last few years the boys tennis team at Cape Fear Academy has been downright dominant. This year it’s been the same old story until Monday afternoon. Cape Fear entered their match with New Hanover sporting a perfect 8-0 record, but a win on Monday for the Hurricanes was not meant to be.
New Hanover beat Cape Fear 6-3. The Wildcats are now 9-1 on the season. Cape Fear Academy is 8-1.
