New Hanover wins 3A Baseball State Title

BURLINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the second time this school year, the New Hanover Wildcats are state champions!

Behind an impressive pitching performance from Brayden Barry, the New Hanover Wildcats defeated Crest High School 2-1.

Barry tossed a complete game with 6 hits, 6 strikeouts and only the one run in the fourth.

New Hanover scored on an error in the 4th and the game winning solo home run by Jac Croom in the 5th to put the Cats ahead for good.

The title is the second this school year after the football team defeated A.C. Reynolds to win the state championship in December. It is the first baseball title since 1994 and the sixth in school history.
