New pickleball, basketball, tennis and more opens at Hampstead Kiwanis Park
HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — New additions to the Kiwanis Park in Hampstead opened to the public on Thursday.
Phase four of the Hampstead Kiwanis Park opened Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The new additions include, four new pickle ball courts, two basketball courts, six tennis courts, two multi-purpose fields, a picnic area, and additional parking.
Pender County Parks and Recreation Director Zach White says the new additions were chosen by the community.
He says the project has been almost four years in the making.
“This will certainly improve the quality of life for residents here in Pender County. We’re excited to get people out, playing on these courts and fields later today,” White said.
During Thursday’s ceremony, attendees were also given certificates for the first ever soccer goal, pickle ball game, and other sports that are held in the park for the first time.
