New Wilmington Sharks owner introduced
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Today the new regime begins for the Wilmington Sharks baseball team as the team officially introduced the new owner, Matt Perry.
“Our company is jumping in as an owner, really with both feet,” Perry said. “That means that we’re going to invest money, to do this right, and we also understand that it’s going to take a little time to take it where we want to go.”
New Wilmington Sharks owner Matt Perry laid out his plans for the team in 2017 and beyond. He and his company, National Sports Services, brings along over thirty years of experience in minor league and independent league baseball. That experience will play a role here in Wilmington.
“One thing that we’re looking to do, from a vision standpoint, is become the summer entertainment option, certainly as it involves sports, for about a four county region.” Perry said.
How he plans to do that is new marketing changes, such as new promotions and renovations to the Shark Tank. New and more seating, a face lift to the appearance and even including a new picnic area along the third base line. Each idea with the goal in mind to build the Wilmington Sharks.
“We’re just confident that over time, with the new promotions that we’re doing and the stadium upgrades, we can create a phenomenal experience for everybody and grow attendance and the business.” Perry said.
Opening day is right around the corner. May 30th is the day the Sharks return for the 2017 season.
