New Year’s Resolutions from people in the Cape Fear
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — Many people use the start of a new year as a chance to set goals and try to reach them.
Emery Richards is one of those people, but hers is a bit more competitive than most.
“To swim a 500, which is 20 laps in under 7 minutes. Go to more swim practices and just work hard,” Richards said.
Her sister Grace also setting some lofty goals for 2024.
“Score 20 points in a basketball game. To just like, try my hardest at basketball practice,” Richards explained.
Derrick Alexander has a resolution that many people can relate to, being healthier.
“Working out more often, maybe not eating the greasy food, going to McDonald’s every day. You know, maybe not doing that type of stuff,” Alexander laughed.
But for some, a New Year’s Resolution is just not in the cards.
“No, nobody ever keeps them so we don’t ever make them. Nobody keeps them past February,” laughed Billie Jean Walks.
But Walks said if you do insist on making one,
“Write it down, put it on a board, keep it in your sights . That’s the only chance you have of halfway keep it,” said Walks.
