No charges filed in Brunswick County officer involved shooting

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An update has been provided to an officer involved shooting last September.

Following an SBI investigation, including witness statements, recorded interviews, and video footage, it was determined that no criminal charges would be filed.

“Deputy Walcott’s discharge of his firearm was justified, and no criminal intent existed at the time of discharge,” a press release stated.

According to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, deputies responded to a shots fired call at a residence on Plantation Court in Supply around midnight on September 15, 2023 .

One person was transported to the hospital at the time, and no deputies were injured.
