Oak Island beach access closed for upcoming beach nourishment project
OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Starting on Friday the public parking area and Beach Access Location on SE 49th street in Oak Island will be closed until further notice.
The closure allows for equipment placement and project staging for the 2025/2026 Beach Nourishment Project.
Additionally, a surveyor from the company performing the dredging and sand placement, Weeks Marine, will begin the before dredging surveys along the beach.
The project will begin at the eastern edge of the work area near SE 46th Street and move in the westward direction as work progresses.
