Oak Island records first North Carolina sea turtle nest of 2024 season

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The first North Carolina sea turtle nest of the 2024 season belongs to Oak Island.

The Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program says the nest was discovered early Monday morning.

This comes on the sixth day of official sea turtle nesting season, which began on May 1st.
