One Direction spokesman won’t confirm hiatus report

LONDON (AP) — A spokesman for boy band One Direction won’t comment on a report that the chart-topping group is taking an indefinite break starting next March.

The Sun newspaper reports today that band members are going their separate ways after finishing a tour this autumn and promoting their fifth album.

One Direction formed in 2010 after five teenagers who auditioned individually for the British TV talent show “The X Factor” were put together by Simon Cowell.

Band member Zayn Malik quit the group earlier this year.
