Shots fired at random homes, one person hit

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police say one person was hit by a bullet after someone fired shots at random homes.

Police spokeswoman, Cathryn Lindsay, says it happened around 7:30 pm in the 1500 block of South 12th St.  That’s near Crocus Court.

Lindsay says multiple homes were hit by gunfire.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. No word yet on whether the victim was outside or inside a home.

Lindsay says Shotspotter,  the city’s gunfire detection system, did alert them to the shooting.
