Opening Statements begin in 2021 New Hanover County Double Homicide Trial

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Opening statements began Wednesday in the trial of a person charged in connection with a double homicide that occurred in July 2021 at the home of a Wilmington business executive.

Raquel Adams is one of three individuals charged in the shooting deaths of Koredresse Tyson, 29, and Bri-Yanna Williams, 21.

The two were killed inside a home on Providence Court belonging to George Taylor III, who was the Chief Operating Officer of Tru Colors Brewing at the time.

Tru Colors Brewing was known for employing individuals with previous gang affiliations in an effort to reduce violence in the community.

During Wednesday’s proceedings at the New Hanover County Courthouse, attorneys for both the prosecution and defense questioned a detective from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. The court also approved the viewing of the first 15 minutes of body camera footage related to the case.

The defense followed with two questions and introduced a new witness, who then took the stand.
