Owners unveil first phase of Broadway at the Beach makeover

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (AP) — The owners of the popular Broadway at the Beach entertainment, dining and shopping complex in Myrtle Beach are embarking on a multiyear makeover of the 350-acre complex.

Officials with Burroughs & Chapin Company announced on Wednesday that the first phase of the project includes a redevelopment of the nightlife area formerly known as Celebrity Square.

As part of the makeover, a Dave & Buster’s restaurant is being added to the area. And the Hard Rock Cafe Myrtle Beach, which opened 19 years ago, is moving to a location that will serve as an entryway to the entertainment district.

Other new tenants include The American Tap House restaurant and a new nightclub called OZ.

The Broadway at the Beach complex includes about 20 restaurants and more than 100 specialty shops.
