Patrick Reed claims first Major winning at Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WWAY) – Patrick Reed wins the Masters for first major title, beating Rickie Fowler by a stroke.

Reed shot a one under par to claim the title. Reed finished 2nd in the last Major championship in Charlotte, NC back in August.

Reed remained consistent as golfers like Jordan Spieth (-8) and Fowler (-5) finished in 3rd and 2nd. Fowler made a run at his first major title, making six birdies over the final 11 holes for a closing 67. Spieth began the day nine shots behind and turned in one of the greatest final rounds in Masters history with an 8-under 64. But a disappointing bogey at the last hole ended his hopes of improbably catching Reed.

It’s in a way a homecoming victory for Reed who in 2010 and 2011 won two national championships at Augusta State University, now known as Augusta University.
