Pender County man arrested for alleged kidnapping and rape
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County Man wanted for allegedly kidnapping and raping a Topsail Beach woman in December, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Durham today, according to a news release.
According to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and the Topsail Beach Police Department, Kevin Glenn Carter was found hiding in a closet in a Durham home.
He was arrested for First Degree Forcible Rape, First Degree Forcible Sex Offense, First Degree Kidnapping, Sexual Battery, Felonious Restraint, Felony Breaking and/or Entering, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assault on a Female, Assault by Strangulation and Felony Possession of Stolen Property.
Detectives with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and the Topsail Beach Police Department began investigating and obtained a warrant for Carter’s arrest after a resident of Topsail Beach reported being taken by force and against her will from her home and then violently sexually assaulted by Carter.
According to a release, Carter fled Pender County after releasing the victim after holding her against her will for nearly twelve hours. He has been in hiding since the initial report was taken on December 22nd, 2016.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force was assisted by the Durham County Sheriff’s Office and the NC Department of Public Safety’s Special Operations and Intelligence Unit.
