PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender High School senior Melia Fullwood has been selected as one of the newest members of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association  Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

Fullwood is a multi-sport athlete participating in cheerleading and varsity volleyball. According to a news release, she is actively involved in the BETA Club and holds a leadership position in the National Honor Society. Fullwood also contributes to her community by working at summer camps for youth.

The NCHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Council serves as a crucial link between student-athletes and sports administrators, providing insights to enhance the overall student-athlete experience and promote an inclusive athletic community across North Carolina.

Fullwood follows in the footsteps of her brother Josef, who served on the council in 2019-20.

The appointment recognizes Fullwood’s athletic achievements, academic excellence, and commitment to community service, making her an ideal representative for Pender High School and the broader student-athlete community.
