People stocking up on groceries ahead of storm

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — At the Piggly Wiggly in Leland, the store manager said they had to put in an emergency order for bread and milk as it was flying off of the shelves.

The manager said the store is trying their best to continue to stay stocked and have plenty of items for their customers.

“I think everyone is planning on sticking around the house and kind of boarding themselves in,” Piggly Wiggly Store Manager Bobby Dorsch said. “So they’re really stocking up and planning on being inside for two days.”

Bread, milk and eggs have been the most purchased items but it is important to make sure to buy items that are non-perishable in case there are any power outage.

As people continue to go out to finish picking up those last minute items, make sure to be careful on the roads.
