Good weather and prime blooms set the stage for the 78th North Carolina Azalea Festival
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With the weather cooperating, the festivities for the Azalea Festival are kicking off at the perfect time.
The Azalea Festival has faced all types of weather, but this year the forecast shows dry and warm weather.
Also, the azalea bushes look to be in prime bloom just in time for the festival.
The 78th North Carolina Azalea Festival President Beck Smith believes the Azalea Festival is the rite of spring.
“It’s the segue into summer before the tourist season really ramps up so if you want to get out and experience some of the local businesses before too many of the out-of-town summer visitors come, it’s a great time to get out a little bit earlier and see what downtown Wilmington has to offer,” Azalea Festival President Beck Smith said.
President Beck Smith says he even more excited for the parade and concerts this year because the weather will be perfect.
