Pete Grendze steps down as Oak Island Water Rescue chief

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) –Pete Grendze is stepping down as the chief of Oak Island Water Rescue.
In a Facebook post, Grendze says Tuesday, Dec. 5 “marks my last business meeting as the Chief of Oak Island Water Rescue.”
He goes onto say that his decision “was not an easy one, but sometimes change is necessary for personal growth and new opportunities. I truly believe that this is the right path for me at this stage in my life.”
Grendze served as chief for over two yearS.
He says he “will have the pleasure of introducing you to the new officers who will be guiding this team forward” on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
