Police: Robbers fire shots in store, run when clerk draws gun

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AP) — Authorities in Winston-Salem say two men attempting to rob a convenience store fled the scene after a clerk in the store retrieved their own gun and pointed it at the suspects.

Police told local media outlets that two men, both of whom had guns, approached the cash register at the store and demanded money from the clerk. A statement from police said one of the men fired in the direction of another store employee, but didn’t hit that worker.

The clerk then got a gun and pointed it at the suspects, who then ran from the business.

No arrests have been made in the case.
