Portions of Riverwalk in downtown Wilmington reopens

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Parts of the Riverwalk has been reopened. Over the last several months, crews have been working on multiple projects and some have just wrapped up.

The section of the Riverwalk behind the Brooks Building finished on Thursday. It was closed back in 2014 for safety concerns. The new portion extends about 240 feet long up to the visitor center, which plans to have renovations completed too in the upcoming weeks.

Crews also completed a concrete section at the foot of Harnett Street just to the north of two new restaurants. The Riverwalk runs north from the Wilmington Convention Center, adjacent to the Port City Marina, and wraps behind the two restaurants before this section, which connects to the wooden portion behind the future North Waterfront Park.
