How much will it cost for CFPUA to rebrand?

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Could changes be in store for Cape Fear Public Utility Authority and how much could they cost? CFPUA could become Cape Fear Water as the company looks to change its name.

“I think it’s bad timing. It’s definitely a waste of money because no matter what the label is it’s still CFPUA,” customer James Kadnar said.

But the CFPUA said they plan to keep costs low. They roughly estimate the rebrand would remain around $2,500. A majority of that would pay for new magnets on their 140 trucks.

Even though this is not a done deal yet, CFPUA has already purchased a URL.

“I still think it’s too early, but the cost involved in doing something like this is not a major affect to our rate payers bills, it’s just not,” CFPUA Board Member Patricia Kusek said.

The CFPUA said as they approach their 10th anniversary they want to rebrand, which is more than adding a new logo.

“We really want to focus the rebrand more about how we interact with customers and the way we go about doing business,” CFPUA PIO Peg Hall-Williams said.

If the board approves the name change the CFPUA said it would be phased in over time. The new website URL was purchased for $258 and would be their biggest change.

WWAY asked if this change was related to the GenX fallout. Kusek doesn’t think they go hand-in-hand.
